JD.com, a leading e-commerce platform, has joined forces with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to revolutionize logistics and supply chain management in the Middle East and North Africa. The collaboration focuses on leveraging JD.com’s advanced integrated supply chain services and extensive international logistics capabilities, particularly through its logistics arm, JD Logistics.
One of the key aspects of the partnership is the implementation of state-of-the-art automation technologies in dozens of SEC warehouses. These technologies aim to meet stringent demands while also enhancing safety, environmental sustainability, and low-carbon standards. JD Logistics will bring its expertise in intelligent logistics and digital supply chain solutions to upgrade SEC’s warehouse management system (WMS) and warehouse control system (WCS) using technologies like AI and IoT. This will facilitate multidevice collaborative operations and ensure real-time, automated inventory management.
Yan Cheng, head of technology business at JD Logistics, emphasized the significance of the partnership in setting new benchmarks in logistics and supply chain management. The collaboration aims to drive significant enhancements in efficiency and sustainability, leveraging JD’s global logistics expertise.
The initiative will explore innovative solutions in logistics intelligent warehousing management systems and intelligent predictive replenishment, leveraging JD’s intelligent supply chain control tower system.
JD Logistics will provide SEC and its affiliates with various services, including warehousing and distribution for a wide range of products. These services will be based on JD’s local warehouse network and fulfillment capabilities, covering raw materials, semi-finished and finished products, documents, daily necessities, and more.
